The Best Part is: Old or Fresh Bread Will Do The Trick
Yeah, no need to get rid of older bread, it works very fine in this Crock Pot French Bread recipe…
So, you’re tired of getting up early to prepare breakfast?
Take a break and use the slow cooker 🙂
Let’s start:
Slice or cube bread and leave it out overnight to let it dry out a bit. Then…
Line your slow cooker with foil that’s been folded over two or three times and spray with nonstick spray.
Whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
Layer slices of bread along the bottom and let it come up the edges a bit.
Pour a bit of mixture over the bread to cover. Add more layers of bread.
Add more of the mixture and continue, ending with the mixture.
Cover with a clean dishtowel and the lid and cook on high for 2 hours. (for the breakfast it works better with a timer, you can simply add one on the plug if your Crock Pot doesn’t have it as an optional feature)
Bread on the outside of the slow cooker gets crispier, which some people love! If you like your French toast casserole more like the texture of bread pudding, soak all of the bread pieces and cook it 30 minutes less.
Mmmm, pretty cool isn’t it?
INGREDIENTS:
1 loaf of stale bread (Challah works well)
6 eggs 1 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
You see that’s an easy and cheap recipe, hope you enjoyed it.
