Tasty Slow Cooker Salsa Verde Chicken

This Slow Cooker Salsa Verde Chicken is a tasty and simple dish for the whole family. The chicken is cooked in a tasty salsa verde sauce and is ideal for tacos, burritos, salads, or on its own.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 15-ounce can of salsa verde
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker. (you can brown them in a skillet for a few minutes before if you like)
  • Pour the salsa verde over the chicken.
  • Add the onion, green bell pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Shred the chicken with two forks. (the way you like it)
  • Serve with your favorite toppings, such as tortillas, rice, or beans, corriander or parsley.

Notes

If you are in a hurry, cook the chicken on high for 3-4 hours rather than 6-8 hours on  low.
If you want to make the chicken, you can cook it, shred it, and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, simply reheat the chicken and serve it with your favorite toppings.
