Ingredients

  • 2 lb fresh green beans trimmed and washed
  • 8 oz bacon cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the bacon pieces over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  • Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened and slightly golden, about 3-4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Transfer the cooked onion and garlic to your slow cooker. Add the green beans, bacon, chicken broth, water, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours, until the green beans are tender but still crisp.
